How to get the correct dimensions

Read first the measuring instructions for inside mounting or outside mounting – these show you the correct way to measure your windows so that your shutters will fit exactly. It is a good idea to print out the measuring instructions before you begin.

Installation Style:

Choose the style of shutters that you want

Select the design of shutters that feels right for you. All of our shutters are custom-built and delivered ready for you to fit.

Attaching a photo can help our Shutter Experts when they call to check your order. Please make sure the window framing and glazing is fully visible, and any handles or obstructions can be seen.

Solid Raised: Solid wooden shutters can be made in many different designs and patterns, in the same way as doors.
Combi Panel: Combi shutters provide maximum privacy at the lower level of solid wood which can prevent prying eyes peering in when walking past your home in the street, and still let you have as much or as little light in the room as you wish through controlling the slats in the upper half.

Number of panels:

How many panels should I have?

That is entirely your choice. As a guide, if you plan to open your panels every day, then narrower panels will take up less space. You can use wider panels if you intend to leave them closed for most of the time.

Configuration:

If you canot find the desired configuration please call our HelpDesk at 0777 246 0159

Mid rails:

Exactly what is a mid-rail?

This is a horizontal rail within your shutter panel, and it can do two jobs. You can use it as a design feature and it also adds strength to the shutter panel. If your shutters are over 1800mm a mid-rail is required, and if they are over 2700mm a second rail is necessary.

1st Mid rail height:
mm

How to measure your divide point

We need to know the position you’d like your shutters to divide when you place your order. Simply measure from the bottom of the window to the centre point of where you’d like the divide to be. Midrail position can vary see here Midrail Variation

2nd Mid rail height:
mm

Louvre size (mm):

What is the best slat size?

This is just a matter of personal preference. Small slats are suited to more traditional homes, while larger slats provide a somewhat more contemporary appearance. The larger slats also let in a little more light.

Control Type:

What is the best position for the tilt rod?

Central: A traditional tilt rod is in the centre at the front.
Offset: An offset rod connects the slats using a traditional rod at the front and to the hinged side of the panels.
Hidden Rod: A hidden rod connects the slats with a metal bar discreetly positioned to the side and rear of each panel.
Concealed: A concealed rod uses an integrated mechanism which is concealed within the stile. There is a 10% surcharge for this option.

Number of frame sides

Which frame is used?

Our shutters are usually supplied with a four-sided frame as it provides the most support for the weight.

Mount type:

What do you mean by an outside mount?

This mount is for windows with no recess or very limited recess and we provide a range of frame options that work well with the outside mount.

What is an inside mount?

This is where you have a deep window sill and you are going to mount the shutters within that recess. You need to make certain that there is enough space.

That’s it! Now you are finished!

When you are ordering more than one shutter, you might want to give this one a unique name or number so that it is easy to identify.

Special Notes

If you have any special notes such as uneven panels, no frame hole, T post, and so on, you can enter them here. Please do not use more than 255 characters. If you need to add any extra information you can do so at the checkout.

Now check you order summary opposite, and make certain that your measurements include the width, all round, of the shutter frame. When you are happy with it all, add the shutter to your cart and we will get cracking!
